Reactions to "On stage she becomes a celebrity"
‘Feature’ story was pornography

Red Wing Republican Eagle, February 18, 1976

TO THE EDITOR:
I was very shocked and disappointed with the R-E over the “feature”
article which covered half the front page in Friday’s issue.  The article
was pornography in both picture and word.
I really don’t believe the R-E has a DUTY to report this kind of trash.
The article seemed to promote the so-called “new” morality we are being
flooded with by all the media.
Actually, the “new” morality is just about as old as man himself as we can
read many places in the Scripture where immorality has plagued man
and kept him from God.  All one has to do is have a limited knowledge of
the Scripture to know that God condemns the type of entertainment
described in the article.  Romans 1:18-32 explains what happens when
man follows after his own sinful lusts.
We as a community should be striving to come closer to God through
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Jesus said to John 14:21, “He that
hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me; and
he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will
manifest myself to him.”
Love, Jesus tells us, is the great commandment.
I pray that this entire community will wakeup and take what God has for
us as recorded in John 3:16.  We could then become one through
Jesus’ love.

Article was offensive

Red Wing Republican Eagle, February

TO THE EDITOR:
Your front page “feature” Friday
concerning “go-go-gurl” activities on
the Island added no laurels to the R-Es
journalistic reputation.
It was not newsworthy.  It showed
callous disregard for your subscribers
who have some moral sensitivity and
have a right to expect their community
newspaper to present and report that
which is legitimate news.
I found the article offensive to good
taste.
